The Center for Medical Simulation (CMS) is a not-for-profit organization that trains teams of clinical personnel to handle medical events. CMS has an international track record and is on the forefront of the emerging medical simulation industry. They do a great job of teaching and have all the resources to continue to do so. What they didn't have was a big budget for their new website which they desparately needed.
ORGANIZATION
The CMS site was HUGE! 142 pages and it was an organizational nightmare. We analyzed their site, and came up with a new organizational structure. Fitting the same content into around 50 pages, and making it intuitive for the average user.
DESIGN
After the organizational Structure was laid out we added a layer fo professional graphic design on their site to make it not only work well, but look great. We worked with the CMS staff to ensure that each page fit with look and feel of the rest of the organization. By using the same imagery from their already completed print-campaign, we tailored their online presence to match their marketing material, making for a smooth flow and saving them some money.
VISIBILITY
Knowing that CMS wasn't going to spend a lot on any sort of online marketing we still wanted to give their site some visibilty to the search engines. Using Search Engine Optimization (SEO) we added to the already existing website code to make sure that when someone searched for medical simulation related terms, that CMS was on the list. We did such a great job that CMS is now the at the top of the search results on Google for "Medical Simulation" go to Google and try it out now! (it will come up as "Harvard Medical Simulation")
This conference was a collaborative venture between CIMIT (Center for Integration of Medicine and Innovative Technology: www.cimit.org) and Dartmouth Medical School. The goal of the conference was to bring together experts in these three areas to help expand collaborations. They needed a site with a registration page, credit card processing and as well as directions and information. Of course they didn't have a big budget for the website, but that's our speciality here at FEV.

ORGANIZATION
The site had some complex specs and technically wasn't going to be simple, but the organization had to be simple. The audience was high-level academics and doctors, people who didn't have enough time to hunt around for information on a website. They needed to be able to access registration and information, and access it fast. We built a site that was very lightweight and easy-to-use, with big, chunky buttons that you couldn't miss.
DATABASE
Our top-notch database programmers set to building a registration page that could generate attendee lists and process credit cards securely online, no small feat. We were able to bulid a flexible registration page that did both to cut down on the users frustration level, and get the funds securely from registrants to the conference organizers.
THE LAST MINUTE
Of course there were last minute changes, and FEV was there to help. We built in a last minute client tool for managing the user list to help with cancelations and duplicate registrations. We also changed the homepage design to account for the large amount of last minute corporate sponsors. At FEV we understand that every great project needs last minute attention!
